Welcome To The Halfstrong Academy
My name is
Lance Halfstrong, founder of the Halfstrong Academy,
and team leader of the Lanterne Rouge Club de Cyclisme.
Membership - well, just me actually.
There are some interesting similarities and differences
between myself and a The Other Lance (TOL)- who may
not be named here for legal reasons (I can't afford
the lawyer's bills).
The Other Lance strives to win - I just strive to finish.
The Other Lance is always in yellow - I choose red,
the colour of the Lanterne Rouge, now a very fashionable
cycling colour.
The Other Lance has yellow wristbands - mine are red.
He has sold more than 70 million, I've sold nearly seventy. |

Goals for
2011
No Big Ride this year. I've cycled
from London to Paris three times in the last four years. Once
when I was well, once when I was ill, and (after missing a
year 'cos of my op), once when I was recovered. The last ride
was the completion of - for the lack of a better word - a
cycle, and marked the end of a very difficult time.
So, this year, I'm doing several
sportives/rides which are organised by various charities.
These include Shelter Box, The Prostate Cancer Charity, and
Action Medial Reasearch. As well as these charities, I have
also opened a JustGiving account to raise money for the Ileostomy
Association. I guess you could say they are my - erm - bag.
"Just"
doing these rides still involves training and preparation
for rides of up to 100 miles a day. That's no mean feat for
someone who has been seriously ill for three years, undergone,
and recovered from surgery, and dealt with some major changes
in his internal plumbing.
It's going to take, well, you know
- guts...
So, please feel free to sponsor
me. Just click the links.
Thanks
Lance

PS
Next year, I'm cycling from John O'Groats to Lands End with
some odd people I've met on my journey.
